The flag of Jamaica was adopted on 6 August 1962 (Jamaican Independence Day), the country having gained independence from the British Empire. The flag consists of a gold saltire, which divides the flag into four sections: two of them green (top and bottom) and two black (hoist and fly). It is currently the only national flag that does not contain a shade of the colours red, white, or blue.

Jamaica is known to be the birth place of legendary reggae Bob Marley. Born February 6, 1945 in St Ann Parish Jamaica. Marley was  on the Billboard Top 200 chart for more than 570 weeks. He received The United Nations Peace Medal of the Third World in 1978.
